Child/Teen Individual Counseling (10-17 years old)
Growing up comes with many changes, challenges, and emotions. Children and teens may experience anxiety, sadness, difficulty managing emotions, friendship struggles, family conflict, or challenges at school. Sometimes, they may have difficulty expressing what they are feeling or understanding why they feel the way they do.
At Rooted in Kindness Counseling, I provide a safe, supportive, and judgment-free space where children and teens can explore their emotions, build confidence, and develop healthy coping skills. Through a collaborative, strengths-based approach, we work together to help them better understand themselves, navigate life's challenges, strengthen relationships, and develop the tools they need to thrive. Utilizing evidence-based approaches including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) for anxiety/school stress, trauma-focused cognitive-behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) if trauma is involved, and identity work with structured worksheet when facing difficulties surrounding self-esteem are the core issue.
Family therapy is a required component of treatment for children and teens receiving individual counseling. Involving family members can help strengthen communication, improve understanding, and support progress beyond individual sessions. The frequency of family therapy sessions will be determined on a case-by-case basis, based on each client's needs and treatment goals.
Whether your child is struggling with a life transition, experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges, or simply needs support navigating adolescence, therapy offers an opportunity to feel heard, build resilience, and grow at their own pace.
The goal is to help children and teens feel understood, develop a stronger sense of self, and build a foundation for lasting emotional well-being.
If your child is in immediate danger, talking about self-harm, or showing severe aggression, contact local emergency services or your child’s pediatrician right away.
